MCA is very pleased to announce a significant expansion of our coursework within the Department of Digital Media. In addition to Video, Interactive Media, and Imaging, students may specialize in Animation beginning fall of 2007.
Our Animation program embraces traditional principles and integrates them with new technologies and media to create art with motion in sequence over time. Once, Animation was necessarily a team effort in which many artists contributed via production line to a single piece. Advances in technology have made it possible for an individual to produce and distribute works of singular artistic vision. This makes possible the animator-as-artist.
The animator-as-artist creates meaning through movement, ranging from the traditional character-based narrative to experimental sequences. Many disciplines come together to make this happen, including: drawing, writing, design, storytelling, photography, modeling, theater, editing, digital technology, and sound-design.
Our unique program structure offers a flexible, trans-disciplinary environment in which to explore and develop one’s personal vision.
