MAArtEd Admissions Procedure

Applications:

Applications must be submitted by March 1 for the fall admission and October 1 for the spring admission.

Submit:

- A completed graduate application form (click here to apply online)
- Two letters of recommendation (at least one from a collegiate advisor or instructor)
- Statement of Purpose (250 word minimum)
- Portfolio

Teacher and/or Artist portfolio are acceptable, with clearly labeled work. Mac-compatible CD-ROM is acceptable (15-20 images).
All material must be accompanied by a description list.
Do not send originals.

- All college transcripts
- Personal Interview with the Program Director
- $50 application fee.

MAArtEd Transfer Credit:

Graduate applicants to Memphis College of Art may, subject to review of the graduate admissions committee, transfer up to 3 credits with grades of 3.0 or higher, toward the MAArtEd degree.



MAT / Alternative Licensure / Add-on Endorsement Admissions Procedure

- Artist's Statement (250 word minimum)
- Portfolio (see below)
- All college transcripts
- $50 application fee.

All students are encouraged to visit the college. Call or email for arrangements.

The existence of a life-threatening illness or disability will not be a factor in decisions regarding admission to MCA so long as the individual’s physical condition is such that he or she can participate fully in the required activities of the college.

MFA Portfolio Requirements:

Applicants to the MFA program must submit documentation of their work in any of the following formats:

- Slides (20 images)
- Mac-compatible CD-ROM (20 images)
- DVD
- VHS in NTSC format

Slides must be in a clear slide sheet with name, order (1-20), and title labeled clearly. In addition, an arrow or dot should be placed in the upper right hand corner denoting that side up and must be accompanied with a slide list. CD-ROMs images must be in jpeg format with a total file size no larger than 50MB.

Video/DVD and audio material must be accompanied by a brief description on how to navigate through the program and must not exceed 5 minutes in length. Tapes must be cued to the start of the program.

MFA Transfer Credit:

Graduate applicants to Memphis College of Art may, subject to review of the graduate admissions committee, transfer up to 6 credits with grades of 3.0 or higher, toward the MFA degree.

International Students:

In addition to all other admission requirements, international students must provide the results of the TOEFL test with a minimum score of 525 (195 computerized score), send certified translations of all academic records and provide an affidavit of support verifying ability to meet total cost for the entire year of tuition and living expenses.
