The MAArtEd curriculum is designed as a part-time program with a curriculum intended to be completed on a flexible schedule of study dependent upon student’s work schedule. The MAArtEd degree requires 30 semester credit hours distributed as follows: |

| Full time teachers are recommended to take 3-6 hours per semester or summer session. |

The MAT curriculum is designed to be completed on a flexible schedule of study dependent upon student’s personal schedule. Students must complete two practicums to be eligible for student teaching. Candidates should complete the program within five years of initial enrollment. The MAT degree requires 39 semester credit hours distributed as follows: |

Completion times for the program will vary depending on the class load students may take. For those who are teaching full-time on Interim licenses it is recommended to take 3-6 hours per semester or summer session. For those students who are full-time MAT students the following progression is suggested: |

The MFA curriculum is designed to be completed in four semesters of full-time (in residence) study, with a fifth or sixth semester optional at either the faculty or student’s request. Candidates have five calendar years from the date of enrollment to complete the degree. The MFA degree requires 60 semester credit hours distributed as follows: |

The recommended semester course load for MFA students is 9 to 15
credit hours with the maximum being 16 credits. |

Complete policies and procedures for the MFA program, written thesis, final review and the MFA exhibition are detailed in the Student Handbook, which is given to all entering MFA students during orientation and is available from the Student Services office. |

Second semester graduate students are eligible to apply for participation in the New York Studio Program in their third semester. The program is highly competitive and the decision is based on the quality of work submitted. The student should see the Assistant Dean for an application. |

While this is an exceptional opportunity for any student, the rigors of the graduate program require each MFA candidate complete his / her final two semesters in residence, which (in the case of the NY Studio Program) may require a fifth semester of study. |
