Administrative Assistant, Art Education Programs

Full-time twelve-month staff appointment, beginning immediately. Good benefits & vacation. Job responsibilities include working closely with the Director of Art Education Programs in the planning, implementation and oversight of all art education programs including, student advising, curriculum development and state licensure. Teaching assignment of up to two courses per semester will require some evening hours.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Art Education - Master's Degree or higher in Education or related field (Ed.D. or Ph.D. preferred).
  • Experience teaching in K-12 schools and Higher Education
  • Knowledge of Tennessee initial licensure, alternative licensure and add on endorsement procedures
  • Knowledge of Tennessee requirements for advanced degree programs in art education
  • Experience with large, urban, diverse school districts
  • Experience in presenting at workshops and conferences
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine coursework at the graduate and undergraduate level
  • Plan, promote and present staff development for teachers
  • Prepare necessary paperwork for accreditation
  • Prepare paperwork for licensure of students
  • Plan capstone student exhibits
  • Work with LEA's
  • Prepare for accreditation visits
  • Research best practices, advocacy, safety and materials that will assist student development at the pre-service and advanced levels

Instructional Technology Associate

Memphis College of Art is a nationally renowned art and design school that is equipped with an advanced digital infrastructure, serving 350 students and 60 faculty.

Within the context of a completely Macintosh environment, this position has a two principle responsibilities: to manage current hardware and software issues including maintenance and inventory of all undergraduate teaching labs; and working with the Director of Institutional Technology to help manage and advance the schools technology infrastructure including networking, server maintenance, wireless technologies, web service, and general facilities issues.

Qualified candidates should have:

  • Three or more years experience with Macintosh OSX Desktop and Server operating systems
  • Experience with Postscript and ink jet printing systems such as Epson Wide Format printers
  • College degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Boundless energy

Preference will be shown to candidates with the following skill/knowledge base:

  • Web Development
  • Javascript and PHP
  • Other programming experience
  • Computer graphics design applications
  • Experience in art & design fields

FACULTY SEARCH : PHOTOGRAPHY

POSITION : PHOTOGRAPHER

Full-time Assistant Professor, beginning August, 2008. This position is a two-year (renewable) academic year (nine month) appointment.

Responsibilties:

Teach all levels of photography (B/W, Color, Digital and historical processes). Participate in on-going curriculum development, community service, and student advising. Maintain active creative output, consistent with the mission of a professional art school.

Qualifications:

Candidates will have an MFA degree, or appropriate advanced degree and possess strong communication skills. Knowledge of the demands of the professional field, historical and contemporary issues, and tools & technologies inherent to the discipline is expected. Experience with digital photographic processes essential. Previous college-level teaching experience is preferred.
