SCULPTURE : FINE ARTS

As one of the oldest and most diverse forms of artistic expression, the Sculpture concentration at Memphis College of Art challenges students to communicate with a new vocabulary. As a third dimension is investigated, space and structure are created through physical self-expression of ancient to contemporary artmaking.

SC 100 Sculpture 1.

Technical processes are introduced such as mold-making theory and practice, basic materials fabrication theory and practice as well as appropriate tool choice and use in each area. A basic understanding of joining methods is expected at the end of the semester. While focusing on skill building, the exploration of materials in mold-making, casting, and fabrication is encouraged.
