Ms. James has been a Master Teaching Artist with Greater Memphis Art Council for 20 years.  Her fiber works are included in the permanent collections of the Tennessee State Museum, International Paper, Tennessee Valley Authority, and Chevrolet Motors.  Her most recent exhibition was in the fall of 2004 at the Renaissance Center in Dixon, Tennessee in connection with a quilting workshop.

She has served on the Crafts Advisory Panel for the Tennessee Arts Commission, including a term as chairperson for one year.  In 2001 and 2002 she served as Out of State Fiber representative on a panel to select Living Treasure of Arkansas Crafts, and has periodically served on panels to select artists and determine awards for the Pink Palace Crafts Fair.
