Catherine T. Wilson Associate Professor Director of Art Education Programs BS, Art Education, The University of Tennessee MA, Art Education, Memphis State University Ed.D. Leadership and Policy Studies, The University of Memphis Catherine Wilson has been an active leader in education and arts education K-16 for 32 years. Having served as a classroom teacher, art teacher, K-12 Fine Arts Supervisor, K-12 General Education Supervisor, Assistant Principal, Principal, Education Consultant, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor, she has had a wide array of experiences in visual arts and education.
As a proponent of arts and general education, Wilson has made numerous presentations on arts and education related topics at conferences and to various agencies. She works as a liaison to the Tennessee Department of Education, Memphis City Schools, Shelby County Schools, private area schools, and local colleges and universities.
In addition, Wilson has served on the Praxis Art Education National Advisory Council through Educational Testing Services (ETS); attended the NAEA Distinguished Fellows Institute; served as the Chair, or as a committee member for numerous AdvancEd (Formerly SACS/CASI) accreditation visits and State Board of Examiners accreditation visits; and serves on a variety of community action group committees. Wilson has received a number of awards in her field including: The Shelby County Schools (SCS) Outstanding Service Award: Tennessee Education Association (TEA) Administrator of the Year; Tennessee Art Education Association Higher Education Educator of the Year; SCS Administrator of the Year; TAEA Administrator of the Year; Outstanding Teacher of the Humanities; School, System, and State finalist Teacher of the Year.
