Deborah J. Halstead Instructor Sociology and Anthropology BA; MA, University of Memphis
One of Ms. Halstead's main focuses has been the Choctaw of West Tennessee, whom she has worked with since 1991. In conjunction with the Tennessee Arts Commission, Ms. Halstead's latest project with the Choctaw involved the cultural acquisition of arts and crafts which were placed in a Nashville museum for future generations to enjoy. Her business "Ebbo" has also been one of her main focuses in her career. Opening in 1993, it acts as a cultural icon for the spiritual and religious communities of the greater Memphis area, serving people of all walks of life as well as religious affiliation. This business provides much in the area of cultural insight, which she is able to bring into the classroom as well. dhalstead@mca.edu
